How to use this site

The Holocaust Explained website is designed to help students and others understand the causes, course and consequences of The Holocaust. The site is designed to support the topics covered in school curriculum by utilising sources from The Wiener Holocaust Library’s unique archive.

The website is divided into nine topics which are arranged across the top of the homepage screen and throughout the site. Each topic is divided into sections and subsections, moving from larger and more general questions to more specific questions. Within each subsection are relevant resources including maps, diagrams, photographs and documents.

In some places, the site also contains advanced content, which provides additional details about the topic. In order to activate advanced content across the site, simply click the red button on the left-hand side of each page menu.

In addition to the primary content on the site there are numerous additional features, including a section of survivor testimony videos, a section containing educational resources and digital lesson packs for teachers, and a timeline giving an overview of the topic as a whole.

Please do not copy and paste from the website. Please get in touch with The Wiener Holocaust Library with any questions about reuse of content or if you need any specific dates or information to cite the site in an academic work.
