A visa granted to women on the basis that they would work in a domestic service position (housekeeper, cook, cleaner). The scheme was administered by Bloomsbury House and women were placed in Jewish and non-Jewish homes across England. Prior to the war, a third of all refugees that entered Britain did so via this scheme (approximately 20,000 women).
