The act or practice of separating. The Nazis used segregation to separate groups of people they believed to be politically or racially undesirable from the rest of the population. The Nazis segregated people in a range of ways, from introducing laws which meant Jews and others could not use the same schools, to imprisoning them in ghettos and camps.
