Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (15 November 1907 – 21 July 1944) was an officer in the German army who attempted to assassinate Hitler as part of the 20 July 1944 bomb plot codenamed Operation Valkyrie. Following its failure, Stauffenberg was executed.
