The Jewish people have existed for thousands of years. Once the Jews had their own country, but two thousand years ago they were defeated by the Romans and sent into exile.

Today Jews are scattered all over the world, and there have been Jewish communities in most parts of the globe for many centuries. So, it is not surprising that one can now find Jews of every physical type.

This section will describe and explain some of the features of Jewish religious identity. In doing so it will demonstrate the diverse cultures within and across the many Jewish communities throughout the world.
