Judaism has existed for thousands of years and was the first of the monotheistic religions.
The Jewish people have also existed for thousands of years.
Once the Jews had their own country, but two thousand years ago they were defeated by the Romans and sent into exile. Today there are around 14 million Jews scattered all over the world.
The Judaism and Jewish Life section of The Holocaust Explained will describe and explain Jewish identity, beliefs and practices. By reading the text and viewing the media assets you will gain an overview of the rich cultural variety within Jewish life.
